Driving to the Whatshan Lake Music Festival from Vernon, enter Highway 6 going east for approximately 130 kilometres, through Lumby and Cherryville, past the Edgewood Junction, and make a left turn onto the Whatshan Lake Road then right at the first fork, follow signs to the Whatshan Lake Retreat sign, 2.8 kilometres up the road.

Driving from Castlegar or Nelson, enter Highway 6 at the South Slocan Junction, and follow the road north to Nakusp, keep on Highway 6 all the way past Fauquier, over the Needles Ferry, turn onto the Whatshan Lake Road. then right at the first fork, follow signs to the Whatshan Lake Retreat sign, 2.8 kilometres up the road.

The airports closest to Whatshan Lake Retreat are located in Kelowna, and Castlegar. Nakusp has a landing strip suitable for small private planes.
